Summary
Overview
I led the complete redesign of the Dreamland Oasis mobile app, improving not only the guest-facing experience but also the owner and admin sides of the platform. The goal was to replace the outdated design with a modern, intuitive interface, restructure the app’s information architecture, and align it with best practices from leading hospitality apps. The redesign made it easier for guests to explore services and navigate resort offerings, while also giving owners and admins better tools to manage apartments, track finances, and oversee operations. A scalable design system was created to ensure consistency and support future updates.

Competitive Analysis
The client shared several reference apps to guide the redesign direction. I conducted a competitive analysis, studying their navigation, user flows, and visual styles. This helped me identify both best practices and recurring pain points in hospitality apps.

Insights from References
By comparing pros and cons, I noted what worked well, like simple navigation and clear layouts. and what created friction, such as cluttered designs or inconsistent UI. These insights shaped the foundation for restructuring Dreamland Oasis’ interface.

New Structure
After gathering insights from references, competitive analysis, and the SWOT exercise, I started shaping the foundation for the redesign. The goal was to rethink the information architecture and layout so that the app felt more intuitive, modern, and aligned with user needs. This phase allowed me to transform scattered insights into a clear direction for the new design.

User flow
With the new structure in place, I focused on the user experience journey. I compared the old design against the restructured version and mapped out user flows to highlight what would change. This process made it easier to identify friction points in the old app and ensure smoother navigation and interactions in the redesigned version.

New Design System
To support the redesign, I built a new design system from the ground up. This included creating reusable components such as buttons, cards, navigation elements, and typography rules. By standardizing colors, spacing, and interaction patterns, the system ensured consistency across guest, owner, and admin interfaces. It also made future scaling easier, as new features could be added without breaking the visual or interaction flow.

Old vs. New Interface
The previous app had an outdated look and inconsistent navigation that often confused users. By restructuring the information architecture and applying the new design system, the redesigned interface became more intuitive, modern, and visually engaging. Guests could now explore services and activities with ease, while owners and admins benefited from a cleaner and more functional workspace.

Importance of Competitive Inspiration
Analyzing reference apps like Rixos and Swissotel showed both strengths and weaknesses in how leading hospitality apps approach navigation and service presentation. This process reinforced the value of competitive analysis not as something to copy, but as a guide for identifying gaps and opportunities to craft a more tailored interface.

Collaboration with Stakeholders
Direct feedback from the resort’s management helped steer the redesign toward what truly mattered to them: a cleaner interface, better organization of information, and a more professional digital presence. Regular alignment prevented over-designing and ensured the outcome matched both business and guest expectations.
